COVID-19 PANDEMIC HEALTH TIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The pandemic, COVID-19( corona virus disease, 2019) of the virus strain SARS-coV-2 is a pneumonia of idiopathic cause that was first detected in Wuhan, China. It was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30th January, 2020.

Yes! there is a lot of panic globally especially among international students, hence there is a great need for both physical and mental health tips on how to stay safe during this COVID-19 outbreak. Here are some useful health tips for international students against COVID-19:

BEWARE OF THE SYMPTOMS AND RISK FACTORS
Fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath, pink eyes are possible symptoms of COVID-19 according to World Health Organization( WHO). Also, the aged, people with heart problems, people in aged care facilities and travelers are at risk of this Pandemic hence extra precautions should be taken.

  • Rinse the hands thoroughly with clean running water.
  • Now,dry hands with a dry single-use towel.
  • Avoid touching the face with your hands as this can transmit the virus.

International students with or without the listed symptoms of COVID-19 should as a matter of necessity use hand gloves and face masks since they have been proven to help curb the transmission of the disease.

AVOID PANICKING TO PRESERVE MENTAL HEALTH :
Yes, it is reasonable to expect increase in VISA appointment cancellations and close of embassies globally, this has put the educational journey of most international students to a halt. Some international students have their families staying away from them, maybe in a country with high incidence of COVID-19 outbreak. All these can cause panic and anxiety, but we all are advised to stay calm and safe as COVID-19 pandemic will be contained as soon as possible and all activities will return to normancy.

It is worthwhile to discover lifelines in your resident country and report any suspected case of COVID-19 or report to your personal physician or office of student Health in your community if you notice any of the listed COVID-19 symptoms as soon as possible for testing and subsequent care.
