About Sweden Government Scholarship

This scholarship is offered under Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals. The Sweden Government Scholarship is fully funded in Sweden by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and is specifically for international students. If you have a strong professional background or leadership experience, then you can study in Sweden. 

The Sweden Government Scholarship is offered to pursue Master Degree. A total of 300 fully funded scholarships are awarded to international students. The duration of this award is for a full-time one-year or two-year Master’s degree.

Value Description of Sweden Government Scholarship

This award provides the following benefits:

• Living allowance worth SEK 10,000 per month
• Travel grant worth SEK 15,000
• Insurance against illness and accident
• Membership of the SI Alumni network when your scholarship period is exhausted
• Tuition fees paid directly to the Swedish University by SI
• Lastly, membership of the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL) to help you grow professionally and build your network while in Sweden.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria for Sweden Government Scholarship

To be considered for this award, you must meet the basic eligibility requirements of the scholarship:

• You must have demonstrated leadership experience from your current or previous employment.
• You must be a national of a country eligible for the Swedish Institute Scholarship Program.
• You must have been enrolled to one of the eligible master’s programs by 3 April 2021.
• You must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of demonstrated employment.

Application Deadline: 3 February 2022 is the deadline for the receipt of application fee and supporting documents required for university admissions.

Application details for Sweden Government Scholarship

The mode of application to this scholarship is online. First, you must gather all necessary documents. Once your documents are ready, begin your online application for the Sweden Government Scholarship. The required documents are:

• A motivation letter

• A curriculum vitae
• Two different letters of reference
• Proof of work and leadership experience
• A copy of your passport

If any of the above listed documents is missing, you will be disqualified.

Below is a step-by-step guide to apply for this scholarship:

STEP 1: Apply for admission into a degree program:

It has been stated that this scholarship is offered for Master’s degree. First, apply for up to four eligible master’s programs by 15 January 2021. This application will be done here. Note, you can only apply to master’s programs on the list of eligible master’s program for SISGP. 

Upon submitting your application to the master’s program (s), you will receive a personal application number comprising eight digits. This number will be needed while applying to SISGP. Receipt for non-refundable application fee and supporting documents must be received before 3 February 2021.

STEP 2: Apply for the Swedish SISGP Scholarship:

After you have successfully completed your application to a master’s degree program, go ahead and apply for an SI scholarship. Submission of required document, through the online portal will be done between 10 February 2021 and 20 February 2021. 

STEP 3: Confirmation from University Admission Department:

Successful applicants to an eligible master’s degree program will receive notification by 3 April 2021. If you are successful, you will be considered for an SI scholarship. 

STEP 4: Wait for the Announcement of Swedish Institute Scholarship 2020 – 2021:

About 300 Swedish Institute Scholarship recipients will be announced by 24 April 2021. An official scholarship offer will be sent to recipients by mail between 24 April 2021 and 28 April 2021.

Upon receiving a scholarship offer, you are expected to accept or decline before the deadline indicated in the offer.
